US of A Road Trip: Day 5

"Seriously - let's go".

I was ready to hit the road... albeit a little sad to be leaving Portland. Have I mentioned how much of a gorgeous city it was? Seriously people. Pack your bags, drive the umpteen thousand miles and visit it. It's what you envision an American city being. It's wonderful. It's perfect. I'd like to go back.

We once again grab breakfast (for mom), coffee for me (again, no room in my Pike Place) and get in the car. We're on the way to our final night in Oregon. We're on our way to the beach.

Apparently Cannon Beach in Oregon coast is better than Tofino. I appointed myself 'judge' of this and told my mom that if it sucked... she was so in for it. With her confidence in check, we busted a move to the beach. I was ready for a sucky satisfactory beach, what I got though was so much more.

We parked Alistair and began our jaunt down the main street in Cannon Beach, Oregon. We weren't allowed to check-in until 4 p.m. so we had to find a way to fornicate the canine until then. It was only 10 a.m.

We checked out the stores, went for fish and chips and checked out more stores. Before then, we were done with Cannon Beach and ready for another beach: Manzanita Beach. After a short drive through some windy roads and a tunnel... we arrive at another beach. It was a little more organic than Cannon Beach. The tall grass swayed a little more, the waves a little lower, but the sand was softer. It was a beach to chill out on, not be romantic by.

After some time on the beach, it was time to check-in.

Because of my intense work schedule, mom was in charge of the trip: finding the destinations, plotting the journey and making it memorable. Of course, all were successful - but the one thing she really got right was the final nights stay: OPI.

Right on the beach, it was the perfect place to stay for the last day. What was even better? Having a fantastic ocean-front seat where we could chill and watch the sun go down. Le sigh...

After a delicious dinner, it was time to header back to the hotel where we could fall asleep to the sounds of a high-tide and crashing waves. I am so in my element, I fall soundly asleep.
